I have had the best luck in the "sympathy card" section or the "thinking of you" section. A lot of cards in these departments are very generic.

I was tempted to use one of those sights that will anonymously send a box of animal droppings as a present. Never did because I figured they'd know it was from me. Still get the urge every once in awhile.
